Don't let the fear of pain hold you back!  We use a strong topical numbing agent and antianxiety medication, as well as pain medication, when needed.  We do need to know if you have ever had a cold sore because the Fraxel will cause a flare-up, so we always make sure you are premedicated with one dose of medication that will prevent the flare-up.  All these things can be called into a pharmacy and brought to the appointment.  Just remember to bring a friend to drive you home if you are planning on taking pain medication or anti-anxiety medication.  The appointment lasts approximately 2 hours.  The first hour is spent with topical numbing medication.  Luckily, we have a comfortable, private area with a television, plenty of magazines, and a variety of refreshments.
