FAQ's

1. How do I find out how much cosmetic procedures generally cost before making an appointment?

Click on the link on the right side of this page for the 2010 National Average Surgeon Fees for cosmetic procedures. Keep in mind that the prices are only for physician fees and do not include anesthesia & facility fees.  Also, the fees listed are National Averages, so our fees in many of the procedures will be less that what is listed (less than NY or Los Angeles, for example).

2. How do I tell what training a doctor has before I pay for surgery?

This is a very important question that can be difficult for the average person to determine.  The term "cosmetic" does not necessarily have anything to do with being board certified in plastic surgery, or even having been trained in plastic surgery.  ALWAYS research your physician before you pay a lot of money and sign up for any procedures.  The difficulty for the average person is that it is often what is not said, rather than what is said, in information supplied by the physician that is important.  Beware of the term "cosmetic surgeon" without doing some research.  Any physician can claim they are a cosmetic surgeon, even oral surgeons and Ear, Nose & Throat doctors.  Beware of sayings like the doctor has been practicing surgery for 30 years, without finding out what kind of surgery.  Don't assume the 30 years of surgery is necessarily plastic surgery.  If you research it properly, you may find the physician is a general surgeon or an orthopedic surgeon.  Also, you need to know what the real certifications are so you aren't fooled by official looking certificates hanging in the doctor's office.  Some certificates come from taking a two day course in something.  Some certificates can simply be bought that sound official.  First, it is generally not a good idea to choose your surgeon because of television ads (like the Lifestyle Lift). You also have to beware of advertising that masquerades as information (like a Who's Who magazine or a segment on a TV show like Better Nashville).  That is all advertising supplied by the physician who can say just about anything he wants to.

To really find out if your cosmetic surgeon is even a plastic surgeon, or board certified in anything, click on the link at the right titled "Is Your Plastic Surgeon Board Certified?"  There are several links to help find out exactly what your surgeon is board certified in, if anything at all.
